Sinus lift - High Point Periodontics

Save your Smile!

What Is A Sinus Lift (Sinus Augmentation)?

Often patients who have lost teeth in the upper jaw require a sinus lift in order to have dental implants placed. The bone in the area where are missing naturally begins to shrink, or resorbs overtime. As a result, the sinuses expand and occupying the empty bone space. The sinus must be placed in its orginal position and bone placed to securely place the implant.

Why Choose A Sinus Lift?

  • Patients who are missing molars in the upper jaw and do not have enough enough bone for implant placement
  • Bone may have been lost to periodontal (gum) disease
  • If teeth have been missing for a long time, bone begins to resorb (absorb back into the body) and there is not enough bone for implant placement
  • The maxillary sinus may be too close to the upper jaw for for implants to be placed

After the Procedure

Usually, you will require 4-9 months to heal completely from the sinus lift procedure before dental implants can be placed.  This increase in bone will compensate for bone lost and will allow for multiple implants to be placed.  Without this procedure, many patients will not qualify for dental implants.
