Meet Dr. Glover, D.M.D., Ph.D.
Meet Dr. Omar D. Glover, D.M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Omar D. Glover joins the practice with a rare combination of advanced surgical training and doctoral-level research expertise in bone biology. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine from East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine, where he received the Pierre Fauchard Academy Student Certificate of Merit for outstanding academic achievement. He went on to complete his periodontal residency at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, serving as Chief Resident, while simultaneously completing a Ph.D. in Oral Biology through the competitive NIH K12 program.
That dual training was not easy to come by. Years of nights and weekends spent balancing the demands of residency with doctoral research reflect the discipline and work ethic Dr. Glover now brings to every patient he treats.
Dr. Glover’s research focuses on the biology of bone regeneration and periodontal healing, work that directly informs his clinical approach to implant therapy and tissue reconstruction. His findings have been published in Aging Cell (2024), Developmental Dynamics (2023), and the Journal of Dental Education (2021).
Clinically, Dr. Glover offers a full range of periodontal and implant services, including full-arch implant rehabilitation, soft-tissue grafting, tori reduction, frenectomies, and third molar extractions. He is proficient in moderate IV sedation, digital treatment planning, and CBCT-guided surgery, combining precision with patient comfort to deliver predictable, esthetic outcomes.
A proud North Carolina native, Dr. Glover earned bachelor’s degrees, cum laude, from both the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte before returning to the state to build his practice. He is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR), the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), and the National Dental Association (NDA), and regularly collaborates with general dentists and hygienists through continuing education and study clubs to support interdisciplinary patient care.
Outside the operatory, Dr. Glover stays balanced through jazz, road biking, tennis, and golf, pursuits that mirror the precision, discipline, and creativity he brings to his clinical work.
